Wow.. Truly. This type of living is gonna help us. I am digging it over this huge home for the moment.. I mean.. My big old house aucks at times. And financially... I would rather keep the money!

I would probably consider buying RV or camper rather than building a container home. This price is too high for a home that you will never sell.

Thanks for the vid! I want to ask, do you feel any need to have an air pocket between the insulation board and the outer, metal wall? I've heard here and there that an air pocket is a great idea as it insulates further. How was the result for you with this container? Does it stay warm in the winter?

I would be interested in seeing the results once there is actually climate control in the container. You're getting ambient air temps inside and outside. that could be affecting your Delta.

Were about to build one for Gf's daughter, I own 8 acres of land on Lake Conroe in Conroe Texas, 45 minutes ish North of Houston, and after her daughter graduates from High School were moving down there. I bought it 8 years ago and it already had 2 16x12 hunting/fishing cabins on it so we just moved them and joined them together to make 1 16x24 (384 Sq ft) cabin and have been working on the homestead for the last 5 year. At first we talked about getting her a little 16 or 18 camper, which is cheaper, to live in but it wouldn't be permanent and there's a good chance her daughter will stay, atleast for a while after she graduates from College, she's going to major in Green/Sustainable Living, basically what she will do after college is go to work for a Energy company and plan/build off grid cabins and homesteads so they can test their products and outside of the west coast Texas is the biggest state in the U.S. because it has all weather types, Houston believe it or not has a HUGE market and Sam Houston State, which is the college/program she's already been accepted into has one of the best programs for it in the nation. She has to finish High School and she'll have to live on campus her first year of school so that gives us more or less 2 years to find 1 and get it built for her, plus she can use her own home/homestead as her senior thesis. The funny part about the entire thing is bought the place before my Gf and I started dating, we have known each other since High School but never dated until 6 years ago, so none of this was planned, it just happened to work out that way.

"Livable, healthy, and safe." The standard of that has greatly appreciated over time, and still varies greatly by location - but I do appreciate the breakdown even if my standards are different. I get that you're in the business of building for other people and that you are definitely trying to convince DIYers not to go it alone or think they can get "good work" for less than X dollars. I also know, though that many of the costs you mentioned can be dealt with for less with some creativity, or will scale favorably for larger builds (surface area increases at a much greater rate than perimeter).

Do you offer “White Box” containers with electrical, plumbing, Insulation etc complete. But no cabinets, countertops, shower stall, toilet and appliances included? I have a developer looking to “customize” with their or products.

I like this because my property is remote, so I could close the container doors and secure it from break-ins when I m not there.

I like how u haven’t wasted space by putting in a kitchen, they are not needed now days, I only use a couple of appliances, also cook outside on bbq etc. Well done!

Do you guys do any custom builds, say, a 53' HC container? We have minimum square footage here of 400sqft, and a 53' container gets over that minimum.

Here is a thing most people don’t say or should know. In some states requires you to bolt down your shipping container home to a concrete pad or some type of base in the ground. I had to go to my local township to find that out.

I want a solid hardwood door with just a little peeping window and I do not like large windows that go all the way to the floor as a wall.
